Youth Wing of the Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide has described the victory of Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state in the just concluded election as an act of God made manifest by people’s unanimous endorsement.

Acting national youth leader, Mazi Chukwuma Okpalaezeukwu, in a congratulatory message on Tuesday, November 14, said the election was eloquent testimony to the people’s general acceptance of his governance and transformation to the state.

Okpalaezeukwu, who personally monitored the election in the company of some other Igbo youth leaders and stakeholders, described the exercise as non-violent, insisting that there was no bloodshed as was the case in previous elections.

He called on Uzodinma to be magnanimous in victory and reach out to his opponents to ensure everyone was carried along to transform the State and Southeast at large.

He said: “The election of Governor Uzodinma bears eloquent testimony to the people’s general acceptance of his governance and the transformation he is bringing to the state.

“The peaceful conduct of the exercise lends credence to the fact that Igbo youths are attentive and in consonance to Ohaneze Ndigbo leadership, led by President-General, Chief Engr Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s plea for them to shun violence during the exercise.

“This victory comes with a great deal of responsibility and we are optimistic that the governor will live up to expectations to sustain the transformation agenda of his government.

“The people are expectant of the fulfillment of the promise of renewed hope. That’s why they gave the governor a resounding victory.”

The youth leader further called on the governor’s opponents to appreciate that the task of building a developed and economically viable State should not be left to the governor alone.

He said: “As Ndigbo, I call on all those who contested alongside the governor in other parties, to sheathe their swords and place the interest of Imo State and Igboland above their personal interests.

“At all times, we must remember that Igboland needs peace and refrain from any act capable of heating up the polity. Imo State belongs to all Imolites and this must be uppermost in their minds.”
