Single handicapper and multiple winner of Ikeja Golf Club Championship Olaitan Muyideen is the player to beat at this year’s Ikeja Golf Club Championship teeing off on Monday.
According to the club’s vice-captain Babatunde Ojo, should Muyideen file out among other top amateurs, he would be the favourite to win, having emerged victorious at the last two editions of the tournament.
The Club Championship is considered the apex tournament of the club and the winner has the bragging right as the club’s number one for the calendar year.
At least 200 golfers are expected to challenge for glory at the 2023 edition of the Championship.
“This is our pinnacle tournament and we have many top players that would be vying to win among them Olaitan Muyideen and Chris Obije, but if Muyideen should be playing he would be the favourite. He’s the defending champion and having won it back to back, he’s the player to beat.”
The Club Captain, Mr Sina Akinyemi, made the announcement on Tuesday, during a press conference held at the Ikeja Golf Club.
