The Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos, Olusesan Daini, has promised to assist residents of Oba Adeboruwa Housing Estate on Baiyeku Road, Igbogbo to equip their health centre.

Daini was invited by the Chief Executive Officer/General Manager of Lagos Home Ownership Mortgage Scheme (LagosHoms) Bayowa Foresythe to the Stakeholders’ Forum organised by LagosHoms.

Earlier, Foresythe thanked him for helping out with infrastructure for the Ibeshe scheme.

The LagosHoms boss said he specially invited Daini to also assist with ongoing Primary Healthcare Centre in the estate and road leading to the estate.

Foresythe said: “I know your capacity; I know what you can do. I know what is within your reach; you’re somebody those at the top value very much. I know you do have one-on-one with Mr Governor and the Deputy Governor.

“We would appreciate if you could use your influence to ensure work on the road leading to this estate is  accelerated.

“The other thing is about the clinic. Mr Chairman, I think it is something you might want to help with. We have put in much effort to build it.  We want the council to take over from where we stopped.”

Foresythe, however, urged the residents to maintain the standard of the infrastructure and ensure its value is not diminished.

He frowned at rearing of pets and use of generators in the estate, saying that they are against the Memorandum of Understanding signed before receiving allocation letters.

Daini promised to send a team from the council to inspect the state of the clinic.

“It is not a bad idea to have a clinic in this estate. Asking me to come and take over is a way of solving some of our challenges because primary health is a co-responsibility of the local government as stipulated in the constitution and that’s what we’re doing for now. If this community have requested for a clinic, I would have look for a way to provide it. Early next year, I will be commissioning a new health center in Oreta which would increase the total of our health centres to 11. The intention of community health centre is to bring health service closer to people and to reduce the stress and the burden on our general hospitals,” he said.

Daini promised that there would be improvement on the ongoing road construction.

“We should first commend Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for listening to us and starting the road construction. Where we are today is not where we were this time last year. I promise to do my part; fortunately the Special Adviser to Governor on Works, Adekunle Olayinka, is my best friend. Our Governor is also interested in getting this road completed in record time.”
