Commercial tricycle operators, otherwise called Keke riders, in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government of Delta State have protested forceful sale of “fake tickets” by agbero in the area to them.
The placard-carrying protesters stormed Effurun roundabout and Airport junction yesterday afternoon, demanding intervention by the state government.
With chants of “no ticket, no agbero”, they hindered free flow of traffic at the roundabout, which connects the East-West Road, NPA Expressway and Effurun metropolis.

The protesters vowed to continue the protest until the matter was addressed by the relevant government agencies.
Noting that Delta State Government had not approved the sale of tickets to Keke operators, they alleged that touts in the area were forcing them to buy “fake tickets”.
The protesters claimed that those who refused to buy the tickets were molested by the touts.
According to one of them, “the state government has not told us to buy tickets, they are just oppressing us.”
Another operator said the fake tickets bear year 2024 and are being sold at N300.
Efforts to get comments from Uvwie Local Government Chairman Ramson Onoyake were unsuccessful, as a call put across to his phone line, rang out.
The “collection of all forms of levies” from commercial tricycle operators and commercial motorcyclists was stopped by the former government in March.
