George makes big return as Rivers United coach

Immediate  past  Super Eagles’ head coach Finidi George is back to club management following his unveiling  yesterday as the new helmsman  at  Rivers United.

Finidi’s appointment was sealed after reportedly meeting, with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara whose state  is the sole financier of the club.

The 53-year-old  former Nigeria  international takes over the reins at United following Stanley Eguma’s sacking towards the end of last season.

The former Ajax winger managed nine-time NPFL champions, Enyimba, for three years before moving up to coach the Eagles.

He masterminded Enyimba’s title success in the 2022/23 season of the NPFL while Rivers finished in a disappointing eighth position last term.
