The first Alokodo of Akodo in the Ibeju-Lekki Area of Lagos State, His Royal Highness Oba Abdulhakeem Babatunde, has pledged his support to the people in his community and the state in its entirety.
The monarch who was installed on Wednesday by the Lagos state government made this disclosure shortly after his installation.
According to him, the opportunity to become a king came at the very right time when he was prepared to take the mantle of leadership to rule his people to greater heights.
He said: “I stand before you today, deeply humbled and profoundly grateful for the honour that has been bestowed upon me as the King of Akodo. This is a moment of immense significance, not just for me, but for our entire community.

“First and foremost, I wish to extend my deepest thanks to His Excellency, the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Your presence here today is a testament to your commitment to the growth and development of our region. Under your leadership, Lagos State has seen remarkable progress, and I am confident that together, we will continue to forge a path of prosperity for the people of Akodo and Ibeju Lekki at large.
“To the distinguished guests who have travelled from near and far to celebrate this occasion, I am truly honoured by your presence. Your support and goodwill strengthen the bond we share, and I look forward to working closely with each of you to uplift our community.
“I also wish to acknowledge the elders and chiefs of Akodo, whose wisdom and guidance have been instrumental in shaping the direction of our community. Your unwavering dedication to our traditions and values is a beacon of hope for future generations. I pledge to lead with integrity, to uphold our customs, and to ensure that the voice of every citizen is heard and respected.
“To the members of the Akodo community, I am here today because of you. Your trust in me is the foundation upon which I will build my reign. Together, we will face the challenges of today and tomorrow, united in our pursuit of peace, progress, and prosperity.”
Oba Babatunde also appreciated the bigwigs from all walks of life who graced the occasion while encouraging them to support him and his community when the need arises.
