Osun LG poll: Group warns against electoral fraud as OSIEC swears in officers

A socio-political group has warned the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) against electoral fraud ahead of the local government poll in the state.

The group, Osun Progressives Youths in the United Kingdom (O-SPYUK) through its coordinator, Tunmise Ajiboye in a statement on Sunday raised concerns over the neutrality of the electoral officers and their assistants that were sworn in. 

Ajiboye said: “It is unfortunate that the leadership OSIEC to date failed to address the allegations raised by the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) that many of the electoral officers are members of the ruling party.

“I want to reiterate that Osun people are watching the State electoral umpire and any form of plan to manipulate people will be vehemently resisted.”

Recall that the OSIEC in preparation for the forthcoming local government elections, sworn in Electoral Officers (EOs), and Assistant Electoral Officers (AEOs).

The chairman of the commission, Hashim Abioye reiterated the commitment of the Commission to deliver free, credible, and acceptable elections come February 2025.
