Former Minister of Women Affairs, Mrs. Pauline Tallen, has called for more inclusive policies to encourage women in politics.
Tallen urged political parties to create more favourable conditions for women.
Concerned about the low number of women in politics, Tallen noted many can stand with men, but require support.
Speaking at a book launch in Abuja: From Margins to Mainstream: Navigating Gender Inclusiveness in Nigeria, Tallen also encouraged women to vote in Edo and Ondo elections.
Tallen acknowledged efforts to include more women in the administration, but noted more needs to be done to achieve gender equality.

In her remarks, the author, Princess Nikky Onyeri, said she wrote from her perspective, hoping the book will give people a cause to think about women and embrace them.
Onyeri, gender advocate and politician, motivated by observing struggles of women’s groups, noted the lack of progress in passing key gender bills inspired her to write the book.
She hopes it will raise awareness and promote literacy on gender issues.
Onyeri added she would use funds raised from the launch to donate copies and establish endowment fund for gender studies in universities.
