Eagles Tracker :Lookman, Onyeka, Dessers, Simon shine for European clubs

Atalanta and Super Eagles attacker, Ademola Lookman scored once and also provided an assist as his Italian team secured a 3-2 win over hard fighting Fiorentina in a Serie A tie played yesterday in Bergamo.

Lookman had just ended his exile having tried to force a move away from Atalanta and playing in his first league game of season the Nigerian first assisted with his club’s second equaliser before he notched the third goal in the stoppage time of the first half. It turned out to be the winning goal. 

The win, their second in the ongoing season takes them to the eighth spot with six points from four games. 

In Germany, Frank Onyeka marked his debut for Augsburg with an assist in their 3-1 home win over St Pauli. The Eagles midfield enforcer was on for 83 minutes as the win guaranteed Augsburg their first victory of the season after three games. They are 11th with four points.

In France, Akor Adams’ Montpellier were crushed 3-0 at Rennes with the Nigerian playing the full game. Akor thought he scored in the 51st minute but it was overturned by the Video Assistant Referee for offside. Montpellier remain rooted to the bottom of the table with a point from four games. 

In another French Ligue One game, Moses Simon bagged his first assist of the season for Nantes but it was not enough as the Yellow and Green suffered their first defeat of the season at home to Reims.

Simon who has scored two goals already before the game provided the assist for Douglas’ goal in the 28th  minute but Reims scored two goals of theirs to inflict on Nantes their first league defeat of the season. Nantes thus slide to the fifth spot with seven points from four games. 

Still in France,Gift Orban was available for 65 minutes in Lyon’s away game at Lens. Orban has scored two goals in two games for Lyon.

In Turkey, Kasimpasa and Fenerbahce clashed with two Nigerians expected to be up against each other. Kenneth Omeruo plays for Kasimpasa while Bright Osayi Samuel is a right back for Fenerbahce. Fenerbahce won the game 2-0 away but both Nigerians were not even listed for the tie.

Fenerbahce move to the first spot with 13 points from five games as a result of the away win but they have played a game more than second placed Galatasaray who just signed Super Eagles’ Victor Osimhen on loan from Napoli. Kasimpasa are 10th  with five points from five games. 

In Scotland, Glasgow Rangers pipped Dundee 1-0 through Tom Lawrence’s seventh minute strike. The goal assist was from Cyriel Dessers. It was his first assist of the season to complement his three goals from five league games. 

Dessers’ compatriot and club mate, Leon Balogun was an unused substitute. He has played four games. Rangers are third with 10 points from five games.
