Why I will continue to do comedy – Oga Top

Nigerian comedian Oga Top, David Ifeanyi Dumbili has shared the driving force behind his career path. 

According to him, the profound impact of laughter on people’s lives has driven him to deepen his passion for the art. 

Comedy, he said, is not just a form of entertainment, but a powerful tool that heals and unites, especially during difficult times.

Reflecting on the early stages of his career, Oga Top revealed that his love for making people laugh came naturally. 

He noted that witnessing how laughter could break down barriers and bring people together became his greatest motivation. 

“Comedy connects people and breaks down walls. The fact that it can brighten someone’s tough day inspires me to keep pushing boundaries,” he said.

From a young age, Oga Top found humor in everyday situations and enjoyed making those around him laugh. 

“I always enjoyed cracking jokes with friends. It wasn’t something I tried to do—it just happened naturally. Comedy quickly became an outlet for me,” he shared.

He recalled a defining moment in his career when he performed in front of a live audience for the first time.

“That first laugh—it was powerful, almost addictive. From that moment, I knew I wanted to keep chasing that feeling,” Oga Top recall
