Lagos to address data privacy breach, says Obasa

Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has said the house would review the Lagos State Data Protection Bill (LDPB) to address breaches in data privacy prevalent in emerging technologies.

 The bill is aimed at promoting protection of personal information processed by public and private bodies.

He underscored the pivotal role of technology in shaping the socio-economic landscape globally, citing its influence across various sectors, including energy consumption, telecommunications, health care, automotive and aviation industries, among others.

Obasa was keynote speaker at the 6th Lagos State University (LASU) Research and Innovation Fair held on the campus in Ojo yesterday. The conference had as theme: “Emerging Technologies, Research and Innovation: Trends, Threats and Consideration.”
