A former House of Representatives member, Barr. Wumi Ogunlola, has said President Bola Tinubu cannot be held responsible for the current hardship in the country.
Ogunlola, who stressed the country was in intensive care unit gasping for breath before the President came into office, added the current socio-economic problems were inherited by his administration.
The former lawmaker representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II spoke while journalists in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state capital on Thursday.
She said the economic hardship facing Nigerians were caused by the mistakes of the past administrations, saying Tinubu was only rectifying the missteps of the past through implementation of reforms and strategic innovations.
She said the President meant well for the country and should be given more time to implement his renewed hope agenda which she said would catapult Nigeria to greatness at fullness of time.
Ogunlola said it was impossible for the current administration to solve the preponderance of challenges plaguing the country overnight, assuring Nigerians that things would soon change for better.

She said: “It’s a pity that we find ourselves where we are, we don’t always think about the foundations of a thing, we only talk about the way we are building on it.
“All these things we are experiencing started from somewhere but we don’t always acquaint our mind to the fact that some people started this thing and we are the one bearing the brunt of it.
“It is because there are some people who have made some mistakes in the time past but I have listen to the President say, by the time he would finish his four years, if he has not done it well, they should vote against him.
“It is because he’s so sure of what he is doing and he knows the aftermath of what will come out of what he is doing.”
Speaking on governance in Ekiti state, the newly appointed Federal Commissioner for Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) lauded Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his sterling performance in the last two years.
She said the Governor has lived up to the expectations of the people, adding the giant strides recorded by the incumbent administration across all the sectors of governance have brought a new lease of life to the state.
She added that his unprecedented score-card has made him to stand tall among his peers and with he had achieved in the last two years, the governor had proven his critics wrong and stung conscience of the opposition parties.
Ogunlola stated that the people of Ekiti took the right decision to have voted for Governor Oyebanji, pointing out that they were bountifully reaping the benefits of the choice they made during the 2022 governorship election.
