The Chairman of Somolu Local Government Area, AbdulHamed Salawu (aka Dullar), has disbursed N50,000 each to 1,000 petty traders to uplift the community and support ‘hardworking residents’.

He said the initiative was aimed at empowering petty traders and enabling them to continue expanding their businesses, supporting their families, and pursuing their dreams.

He added that the exercise marked the fifth phase of the cash palliatives programme, which has already made a profound impact in the community.

“We have seen the impact of these funds among our people; their businesses have grown stronger and the new hope it has brought to families. We are determined to keep this process going, because Somolu is a community that deserves every opportunity to thrive,” he said.

He stated that the council will be commissioning several projects. They include Legislative Complex, Somolu Fire Service Station, Wright Primary Health Care Centre and Wesley Primary School, among others.

Salawu praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, urging patience and cooperation for long-term benefits.

He also commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s “dedication to projects impacting Lagosians’ lives”.

The former Chairman of the council, Olorogun Gbolahan Bagostowe, commended Dullar for his ‘outstanding performance.’

Gbolahan praised the efforts made to address the community’s needs and highlighted the beneficial effects of such initiatives on the overall development of the community.

He urged Salawu to continue giving his best.

The APC Apex Leader Peter Oyewusi described Salawu as a ‘God-sent’ to Somolu community.

He implored the beneficiaries to make good use of the money.

The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and vowed to put the money to judicious use.

A beneficiary of the initiative Ganiyat Quadri expressed her profound joy stating: “I am going to add this money to my business. I thank the council boss for this gesture,” she said.
