Aviation unions laud FAAN’s chief

Three unions in aviation : Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN),National Union of Air  Transport Employees (NUATE)  and Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP) have hailed Managing Director /Chief Executive  of Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria , Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, in attending to welfare of personnel.

The unions said her management team showed understanding at a meeting where a presentation was made  on the proposed minimum wage and how negotiation was concluded.

They hailed the resolve of the team to transmit the negotiated amount to National Wages  Salaries and Incomes Commission next week for approval.

In a  bulletin  after the meeting, the unions noted :” Management has also commenced registration of workers into National Health Insurance Scheme . Further details will include improving facilities at FAAN  clinics in the  regions.”

On concessions, union executives demanded a meeting with Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, to seek more clarification to resolve labour issues because the matter is before National Industrial Court .

A source familiar with the development said FAAN management also informed the unions of their efforts to resolve the issue of the Federal Government’s  plan to sell FAAN staff quarters in Kano.
