President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday, November 19, submitted the names of three nominees for appointment as commissioners in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The nominees include Tukur Abdulrazak Yusuf and Professor Sunday Nwambam Aja, who were proposed as National Commissioners for the North West and South East regions, respectively.
Additionally, Saseyi Feyejimi Ibiyemi is nominated for appointment as the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the President’s letter of request during the plenary session.
The letter reads in part: “In compliance with the provision of Section 154(1) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), I am pleased to forward for confirmation by the Senate, the appointment of the following three (3) nominees as Commissioners in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“While hoping that the Senate will consider and confirm the nominees in the usual expeditious manner, please accept Distinguished Senate President, the assurances of my highest consideration.”
Akpabio after reading the letter referred the request to the Senate Committee on INEC for further legislative action and to report back in two weeks.
