Osun plans establishment of airport

Secretary to Osun State Government (SSG), Teslim Igbalaye, has said the government is set to begin the construction of a multi-billion airport, abandoning MKO Abiola Airport, Ido-Osun, which the administration of former governor Rauf Aregbesola had spent over N3.5billion on.

He said Governor Ademola Adeleke, alongside the Minister of Works, David Umahi and Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo, would perform the foundation laying of the new airport in Ede on December 16, as part of the activities to commemorate the second year anniversary of the Adeleke administration.

Speaking over the weekend at the Banquet Hall, Osun State Government House, Oke-Fia, Osogbo, Igbalaye said activities had been lined up for the anniversary.

He said: “For the second year anniversary, it will commence with walk to live, Imole, prayer session, novelty match, presentation of bond to retirees, awards to outstanding Osun indigenes, inauguration of 2.4km Old Garage/Oke-Fia/Lameco Road by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and inauguration of roads in the 30 local governments. Governor Seyi Makinde will inaugurate Ring Road, among others.”

Igbalaye added: “Umahi and Keyamo will conduct inspection of Okefia and Lameco flyovers, after which they will inaugurate Akoda Ede-Road.”

He said they would also perform foundation laying for the airport.
