One hundred and twenty students have benefited from the initiative of the lawmaker representing Badagry Federal Constituency in Lagos State, Mr Sesi Whingan.
The initiative is tagged: ‘Badagry 1,000 Tech Talents Programme’.
It is part of Whingan’s vision to equip 1,000 youths in Badagry with technological skills to address unemployment and poverty.
The training was organised in partnership with Codeverse Africa, a tech training and capacity-building organisation.
Whingan hailed success of the programme’s first cohort.
He noted his commitment to fostering technological innovation among youths in Badagry, emphasising importance of transitioning from consumers to creators in the tech-driven economy.
The lawmaker said the remaining 880 students would be trained this year.

He presented certificates of completion to the graduates and gave laptops to 50 exceptional trainees.
Mr Sejiro Ajose, facilitator from Coveverse Africa, said: “This is the beginning of the world for you; do not sell your laptops.”
Prince Olu Kosoko, son of Oba Oladele Kosoko, Oni-Woro of Iworo, Badagry, said their choice would change their lives.
Dr David Oke, chair of the Technical Organising Committee, praised Whingan for his foresight and dedication to empowering youths.
Participants were from Badagry Local Government, Olorunda and Badagry-West Local Council Development Areas.
