Nigerians have again been reassured by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that the current economic challenges would soon be over.
The President, who said that he understands the plights of the people following the critical economic reforms introduced by his administration, stated that the policies were necessary to address challenges caused by years of mismanagement and neglects.
Tinubu, who was represented by Deputy President Kashim Shettima, spoke at the opening of the fifth annual Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers (CARSPO) in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The president said: “Our heart goes out to all Nigerians. The President understands the challenges we are facing. But, be rest assured that no matter how long the night is, it must give way to the light of the dawn.

“Nigeria shall prosper once again. But internal security is fundamental for creating an environment where businesses and investments flourish.”
According to him, the challenges caused by years of neglect impacted various sectors – internal security, food security, unemployment, inflation and infrastructure.
He said: “While these reforms may initially be challenging, they are vital to realigning our nation from the beginning of our country’s crisis.
“We have also introduced reforms to restore infrastructure confidence, stabilise the microeconomic environment, and reduce inflation.
“We are also taking prime measures to instill fiscal discipline, stabilise the foreign exchange market, and eliminate financial leakages by removing fuel and electricity subsidies. These efforts free up critical budgetary resources, enabling us to address long-standing infrastructure deficits.
“We are investing in roads, railways, and energy projects through public-private partnerships, which will lower transportation costs, expand market access, boost productivity, and create much-needed jobs.”
