‘Show religious tolerance’

A business tycoon and Southwest chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Olufemi Ajadi, has called on Christians to use the occasion of the Lent to pray for political leaders.

He said they should also show religious tolerance.

In a message to Christians made available to reporters yesterday, Ajadi urged Christians to use the holy 40 days to pray for Nigeria, especially political leaders, so that God would lead them aright.

He also advised them to demonstrate religious tolerance and interact peacefully with other religious adherents, to enable peace reign in the country.

Ajadi said: “This year is special because Muslims and Christians are fasting at the same period. The uniqueness should be used to pray for Nigeria, as there is nothing God cannot do.

“I rejoice with our Christian brothers and sisters as they begin Lent.

“I advise them to use this period of fasting, prayer, penance and self-denial to move closer to God and reflect on the significance of Jesus’ sacrifice.
