Europa League: Dessers scores as Rangers thrash Fenerbahce

Super Eagles attacker, Cyriel Dessers celebrated his inclusion in the 39 man senior national team provisional squad with a Man of the Match performance for Rangers in their 3-1 away  win at Fenerbahce in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League tie.

Leon Balogun had predicted a tough battle against Jose Mourinho-led side im but it was Dessers that put the Scottish side ahead  in the seventh minute . Fenerbahce then  rallied to equalise in the 30th  minute.

Vaclav Cerny scored Rangers’  two other goals on the 42nd  and 81st  minute to extend the Gers lead.

Sadly Dessers was denied two scoring opportunities in the 42nd  and 81st  minute that would  have increased the tally before he was subbed off in the 88th  minute to a thunderous applause from the travelling fans.

Dessers have played 44 games in all competitions with 43 goals and eight assists.

Meanwhile,Leon Balogun came on for injured Robin Propper in the 29th  minute and though Fenerbahce equalised a minute later, the Nigerian put in a good shift to ensure Fenerbahce ended on the losing side.

He has been involved in 22 games with one goal in the current campaign.

The other Nigerian that should have dressed for the game was Bright Osayi Samuel of Fenerbahce who was suspended because of accumulated cards.

Elsewhere, in a UEFA Conference League game, Daniel Daga was an unused substitute for Molde who pipped Legia Warsaw 3-2 in Norway.
