NGO supports petty traders

A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Lagos League of Champions (LLC), at the weekend supported over 500 petty traders in Badagry, Lagos State, with N50,000 business grants.

Speaking to reporters after the empowerment, Lagos State Coordinator of LLC, Mr Akeem Adelabu, said the objective of the programme was to support small scale businesses.

He said: ‘’The programme is sponsored by my principal, Mr Seyi Tinubu and this is not the first time we are doing this.

“On March 1, we were in Badagry to give free medical outreach to over 1,000 people in Badagry.

“They came with diseases and they were treated. Some collected drugs, while some with eyes diseases collected eye glasses.

“Today, we are here again to support small scale business women to boost their businesses with N50,000 cash grants.

“Apart from the business grants, Seyi Tinubu, a replica of his father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in terms of generosity, has decided that we should have a mechanism to monitor their activities.’’

On the mode of selecting the beneficiaries, Adelabu said LLC had three coordinators in Badagry representing the three councils, who were in charge of the selection with a template.

Mr Joel Hunpatin, Badagry Local Government coordinator, said the target of the grants was women who were petty traders at the grassroots.
