First Lady Oluremi Tinubu officially closed  the 2025 African Women’s Volleyball Club Championship after a thrilling finale that saw Egypt’s Zamalek Club emerge champions for the third consecutive time.

The closing ceremony, held in Abuja, marked the end of a 14-day tournament that brought together 16 elite clubs from across the continent in a vibrant showcase of volleyball talent and athleticism.

According to a statement issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady, who is also the Grand Patron of the championship, led dignitaries and sports enthusiasts to witness the grand finale.

Zamalek secured the title after a hard-fought victory over fellow Egyptian side Al-Ahly in a dramatic four-set showdown.

Zamalek took the first set 29-27, dropped the second 22-25, then bounced back to win the third 25-20.

The decisive fourth set saw Zamalek hold off a fierce challenge to win and seal their third straight continental title.

In her remarks, Senator Tinubu congratulated the champions and praised all participating teams for their display of passion, skill, and resilience throughout the competition.

“To our champions, Zamalek Club, on behalf of Nigeria and the entire continent of Africa, I say congratulations. Your victory today was earned through countless hours of practice, teamwork, and perseverance.

“Your journey to this podium began long before this tournament—on community courts, in early morning training sessions, and in moments when you chose to push forward despite exhaustion and doubt.
