Osun govt demands apology from APC as Appeal Court dismisses LG suit

The Osun State Government on Friday demanded for apology from All Progressives Congress (APC) over the local government control crisis which led to closure of council secretariat since February 2025 after Appeal Court dismissed their case.

The Nation recalled that two separate Federal High Court verdicts had sacked APC elected executives but were reinstated by Appeal Court in February 10th 2025 in suit against the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), leaving All People’s Party(APP) suit unchallenged.

Subsequently, crisis engulfed the state as both PDP and APC laid claim on the council’s secretariat leading to killings of their supporters.

Subsequently, APC re-enlisted the case of APP at the Appeal Court, but was dismissed on Friday.

Reacting to the development, the Osun State Government through the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi in a press conference said the Appeal Court verdict reaffirmed the council poll held on February 22nd 2025 which was won by PDP.

“The dismissal of APC’s suit shows that the sacking of the Yes/No chairmen and councilors still subsists and binding on all those involved.

“To God be the glory that the political brigandage of APC has been legally destroyed. The political crisis leading to loss of many lives and properties in the state is unwarranted.

“We therefore, call on Osun APC to apologize to the good people of Osun state for the unwarranted and unnecessary chaos which they inflicted on the people of Osun state for the period it lasted.”
