Pad-Up Pulse e-learning platform boosts menstrual education, job creation

In a move to tackle unemployment and promote menstrual hygiene education across Nigeria, Pad-Up Creations Limited has launched Pad-Up Pulse.

It is an innovative online platform designed to train and certify menstrual hygiene educators, guidance counsellors, and advocates.

Unlike conventional e-learning sites, Pad-Up Pulse targets young graduates and youth corps members, providing them with practical skills to serve as menstrual hygiene trainers, school counsellors, community advocates, consultants, and data collection officers all within the vital field of reproductive health.

Speaking on the vision behind the platform, the CEO, of Pad-Up Creations Limited, Mrs Olivia Onyemaobi, said Pad-Up Pulse was created to bridge two pressing gaps including the shortage of trained menstrual hygiene educators and the high rate of youth unemployment.

“We realised many young graduates leave school without technical or specialised skills that can help them become financially independent immediately.

“With Pad-Up Pulse, they can learn to be trainers and consultants in menstrual hygiene, reproductive health, and counselling, and start earning,” Mrs Onyemaobi said.

According to her, the platform allows trainees to create personal pages, enrol in tailored courses, and access a comprehensive trainer’s package.

“This package covers essential soft skills, such as communication techniques, confidentiality, audience engagement, and practical session management, equipping them to confidently deliver lessons in schools and communities,” she said.

She noted that to ensure widespread adoption, Pad-Up Pulse will collaborate with private schools that often lack dedicated guidance counsellors.

“Under this model, graduates trained on the platform can be attached to schools, with modest contributions integrated into students’ school fees to sustain salaries for the new counsellors,” she noted.

On the ease of manoeuvring the online platform, she said it is built on a robust Virtual Private Server (VPS) infrastructure, providing a dedicated and isolated virtualised environment for optimal performance and resource allocation.

“At its core, the platform integrates advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities, leveraging machine learning algorithms and computational intelligence to drive its core functionalities and enhance user interaction.

“It offers enhanced personalisation and a superior user experience, proactive problem-solving, and robust security measures.

“Users also benefit from scalable intelligent features, dedicated resources for optimal performance, improved security and system isolation, as well as greater reliability and uptime.”

Recognising Nigeria’s linguistic diversity, she said the platform offers training modules and resources in the country’s three major languages, Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo enabling trainers to effectively communicate with rural communities in their mother tongue.

Mrs Onyemaobi said plans are underway to expand this feature to more local languages.

Beyond training, she added that Pad-Up Pulse provides practical work opportunities by linking certified trainers to real-time jobs and internships with Pad-Up’s field teams, ensuring graduates gain both theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.

Saying the platform also features interactive elements like educational games on menstrual hygiene and reproductive health she added that it also has a Q&A forum where young people can safely ask questions about their bodies.

Another feature is a learning hub showcasing case studies and current research to deepen users’ understanding of local and global trends.

One highlight, according to her, is that the platform caters to both male and female audiences, encouraging holistic understanding and breaking the stigma often associated with menstruation and reproductive health education.
