Former Lagos lawmaker Jimoh hails Sanwo-Olu at 60, describes him as model of humility

A former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Olumuyiwa Jimoh, has celebrated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on his 60th birthday, describing him as a leader whose life and service reflect humility, peace, and transformative governance.

In a tribute to mark the governor’s diamond jubilee, Jimoh recounted Sanwo-Olu’s humble beginnings in Omididun, Lagos Island, and commended his rise through the ranks to become a key figure in the development of modern Lagos.

“Effective leadership is measured by how deeply it connects with the people,” Jimoh said. “Sanwo-Olu’s sacrifices in office demonstrate that power, when used rightly, is about service, not self.”

He praised the governor’s leadership style, describing it as calm, focused, and people-centred.

According to Jimoh, Sanwo-Olu’s six-year stewardship has been defined by a clear vision for a globally competitive Lagos and a steady hand in navigating the complexities of governance.

Highlighting achievements across sectors, the former lawmaker noted that the governor’s approach to leadership has left a lasting impact on the state.

He also commended the synergy between the executive and legislature under Sanwo-Olu’s watch, which he said has led to effective lawmaking and impactful governance.

He also acknowledged the role of the First Lady, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, in supporting the governor’s leadership journey, describing her contributions as key to his effectiveness.

“As Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu turns 60, I join millions in celebrating a man whose life exemplifies humility, competence, and dedication to the public good,” Jimoh said. “May God continue to grant him wisdom and grace in his service to humanity.”
