Some recognitions are earned through scale, others through clarity of purpose. For Stella Eshett, it was both. At this year’s National Entrepreneurship Honors (NEH), she was awarded the Pioneer in Technology Innovation Award, recognizing her leadership in developing business solutions that rethink how companies manage procurement, supplier networks, and operational resilience across Africa.
The award is reserved for entrepreneurs crafting technology that is both grounded and transformative. She stood out in a rigorous three-stage selection process handled by a panel of policy advisors, capital providers, and ecosystem mentors, earning top marks for innovation depth, practical value, and national impact.
Her work tackles the everyday complexity of business operations. She has pioneered systems that combine intelligent vendor sourcing, contract visibility, and performance monitoring, delivered in a single, coherent solution. These are tools that give SMEs a degree of operational clarity once available only to larger firms.
During the award ceremony, Dr. Chuka Ezeani, Director-General of the National Entrepreneurship Research Institute and a member of the judging panel, described her contribution as “a rare blend of technical rigour and practical foresight.” He added, “She’s not just building software, she’s constructing frameworks that bring structure to areas of business that were neglected for too long.”
In an ecosystem often fixated on flashy launches and hype, her work has gained attention for substance. Her solutions have been adopted by businesses in manufacturing, logistics, e-commerce, and infrastructure; sectors where procurement disruption often halts growth and erodes margins. By giving these organizations the tools to manage suppliers with discipline, she’s raising the bar for how enterprise software should perform.
The ceremony drew CEOs, investors, civic leaders, and ecosystem builders; many praised her as “the kind of entrepreneur building the foundation of tomorrow’s resilient African businesses.” In honoring her with the Pioneer in Technology Innovation Award, NEH highlights a new standard for business-driven innovation, and Eshett is already showing how it’s done.
