Council seeks youths inclusion in Southwest Development Commission

The Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide (YCYW) has advocated the inclusion of credible youth stakeholders in the new Southwest Development Commission (SWDC) leadership and operations.

The council made the appeal during a visit led by its National Coordinator, Alawode Rahmon Akintunde to the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting emphasised strategic engagement on youth inclusion, empowerment, and active participation in developmental frameworks—particularly the SWDC.

In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Ogbeni Ajibode Abdulkabir, the YCYW commended President Tinubu for his youth-inclusive governance and policy innovations aimed at national transformation.

The coordinator lauded the minister for his passionate commitment to youth development, describing him as a worthy voice of advocacy for youth integration in national decision-making.

He commended the ministry’s efforts towards the upcoming National Youth Conference and for raising the pride of Yoruba youths nationwide.

The meeting culminated in a mutual agreement for continuous collaboration between YCYW and the ministry geared toward promoting youth development, policy inclusion, and empowerment across Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole.

The minister, accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Muhammed Abdullah Funsho, assured the council of continued partnership with youth organisations like YCYW in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.
