Para Powerlifting gets nod for  National Youth Games

The Nigeria Para-Powerlifting Federation has announced the inclusion of the sport at the forthcoming National Youth Games billed for Asaba, Delta State in  August.

“The Nigeria Para-Powerlifting Federation is thrilled to announce that Para-Powerlifting has been included in the National Youth Games! This development marks a significant milestone in the federation’s efforts to promote inclusivity and provide opportunities for young para-power lifters to showcase their talents,” the NPF wrote in a statement signed by the secretary, Afolabi Oluwayemisi Olabisi

“This inclusion is a plus to our federation as it will serve as a veritable platform to discover the next generation of champions who will make the country proud.”

The youth para-power lifters will compete in six categories, divided evenly between men and women:

Men categories are 49kg, 54kg and 59kg while the Women categories are: 41kg,

45kg, and 50kg.

The National Youth Games are slated to take place in August, with zonal eliminations across the country in July ending. We are excited to witness the emergence of new talents who will represent Nigeria in future championships.

The Nigeria Para-Powerlifting Federation looks forward to working with the organizers of the National Youth Games to ensure the successful inclusion of para-powerlifting in the event. This development will promote the growth and development of para-powerlifting in Nigeria and inspire young athletes with disabilities to take up the sport.

The National Youth Games (NYG), is an annual event aimed at growing the youths in Nigeria to become skilled sportsmen and women.

It is a multi-sporting event organized by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the National Sports Commission for athletes from the 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria.
