31 countries fight for honour at African Karate Championship in Abuja

Thousands of athletes representing 31 African countries have landed in Nigeria ahead of the 2025 African Karate Championship which began yesterday in Abuja.

The much-anticipated event started yesterday and will end on  28th  July and will feature a wide range of competitions across various categories, including Cadet (14–15 years), Junior (18 years), Senior, Para-karate, and Wheelchair divisions.

According to Technical Director Dave Jegede, Team Nigeria is well-prepared and in peak condition following a series of national and regional tournaments.

The championship is expected to attract widespread attention across the continent, as Africa’s top karatekas converge to compete in a week-long showcase of skill, discipline, and sportsmanship.
