Super Eagles winger Moses Simon opened his goal account for Paris FC, but it was not enough to prevent the newly-promoted side from falling 5-2 to Marseille at the Stade Vélodrome.

Simon, who joined Paris FC in the summer after an impressive spell at Nantes, struck in the 58th minute to bring the visitors level at 2-2.

Ilan Kebbal, who had earlier halved the deficit, provided the assist for the Nigerian international, who calmly slotted home his first goal for the club.

Marseille had raced into a two-goal lead in the first half, courtesy of a Mason Greenwood penalty and a composed finish from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Kebbal’s goal before halftime gave Paris FC hope, which Simon’s equalizer soon strengthened after the break.

However, momentum quickly shifted when Simon was substituted for Jean-Philippe Krasso in the 64th minute.

Les Olympiens capitalized on the change, with Aubameyang restoring their lead before Pierre-Emile Højbjerg and Robinio Vaz sealing the victory in the final minutes of the game.

The defeat leaves Paris FC without a point after their opening two games of the new Ligue 1 campaign.

Despite the setback, Simon will look to build on his encouraging start and inspire the team to find form as the season progresses.
