Rep donates office equipment to agencies

A federal lawmaker, Mr Abass Agboworin, has donated office equipment to security agencies in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, to enhance their operations and service delivery.

Agboworin, representing Ibadan South-East/North-East Federal Constituency, said the gesture was also to support the state government in its efforts to ensure peace and order.

The items donated include refrigerators, generators, printers, water dispensers, industrial fans and stationery.

The lawmaker said he observed the gap he was filling during his visits to security offices in his constituency while pursuing his passion to ensure security of lives and property.

“I observe lack of essential office equipment hampering their operations. So, providing these tools is a step towards filling that gap.

“Security agencies do massive work to protect us and our communities.

“You can imagine if the security agencies, especially the police, go on strike for one week; imagine what will happen,” he said.

He buttressed this by saying crimes would thrive if security personnel lacked basic tools to work.

Agboworin noted that an effective security framework required that security responsibility be shared among stakeholders, rather than resting it solely on the government’s shoulders.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Commissioner of Police (CP) in Oyo State, Mr Femi Aruna, thanked Agboworin for the donation.

Aruna, represented by the Officer-in-Charge of Operations, Mr Uche Ekannem, restated that security operatives would continue to prioritise the safety of lives and property.

The Executive Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Mr Sunday Odukoya, said the initiative aligned with the state government’s vision for security enhancement.

Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Security and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps benefited from the gesture.

Others are Operation Burst and Western Nigeria Security Network, code-named Operation Amotekun.
