Two policemen attached to the traditional ruler of Ukpo in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Robert Eze, are feared dead.
According to reports, the two policemen were said to have been involved in a road crash at Abatete in Idemili North Local Government Area about 5pm on Thursday.
They were on their way back from Ideani in Idemili South Local Government Area.
The traditional rulers were said to be in a convoy on their way from Ideani community, where they went to pay their last respect to the departed traditional ruler of the area, Igwe H.O Okoye.
The Nation gathered yesterday that the driver of the pilot vehicle, a Hilux, whose identity could not be established as at the time of filing this report, was drunk.
The incident forced many of the traditional rulers in the convoy to stop at the scene of the accident.
Efforts to speak with the traditional rulers were futile, as they were all in pensive mood and could not speak on the incident.
However, but one of them told The Nation in confidence that the driver was reckless and drunk.
Though, the driver came out unhurt, but the two police men were not that lucky, while a fourth person was left seriously injured.
When The Nation contacted the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Uche Ezeh, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) yesterday, he said he had not got any signal on the incident and could not confirm it.
