House of Representatives member-elect representing Olamaboro federal constituency, Hassan Omala has urged the former Governor of Kogi State and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Prince Abubakar Audu to run for governor.
The lawmaker said the state is in dire need of a visionary and purposeful leader at this time.
According to him, Audu has been tested and it was during his time that the state witnessed tremendous achievements in education, health, road construction, tourism, industry, and housing.
Hassan condemned those calling on the former governor not to run, saying the people should be left to determine who governs them.
He stressed the need for politicians to be tolerant rather than resort to mudslinging and blackmail.
“It is undemocratic calling on our leader not to run, it’s a selfish call and we will resist such,” he said.
Meanwhile, a group known as Kogi APC Defenders has disowned Kogi East Elders Forum, saying its is non exiting group.
The Secretary General, James Okpanachi spoke to reporters in Lokoja. He described the elders as fifth columnists serving as agent of the PDP.
He called on the people to ignore them and remain solid behind our leader prince Audu, saying Audu remains one of the central figures in the opposition party like our national leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari and the rest.
“Audu has remained consistent since 1999 to date, even at the point of harassment to defect to PDP, yet he remained undeterred, so why should people not appreciate his role, Okpanachi said.
