Sharks: Dokubo will surpass Ogunbote records

The General Manager of Sharks FC of Port-Harcourt Okey Kpaluku has expressed optimistic over the capability of coach Daboere Dokubo and his able assistants led by Festus Allen to lead the club to greater height.

Dokubo has been asked to handle the team on an interim capacity following the exit of their club’s technical adviser, Gbenga Ogunbote, who has joined Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan.

Kpaluku said Dokubo will continue from where Ogunbote stopped, insisting that the new technical crew will surpass Ogunbote record so as to discourage the search for a substantive technical adviser.

He urge the technical crew to ensure that they do their best to make sure that the Blue Angels have a respectable finish at the end of the season.

“Don’t forget that the success recorded by Ogunbote could be attributed to the fact that he had capable assistants who all worked towards his success in 2013 when the team escaped relegation, it was on that premise we have now handed the team temporarily to his right hand man on the bench Daboere Dokubo,” Kpaluku said.

“I’m very sure Dokubo and his team will do a thorough job to ensure we remain in the elite league next season. And with that there will be no need for management to search for another coach to boss them.’’

Kpaluku has however heaped praise on the managerial prowess of Gbenga Ogunbote who tendered his resignation letter during the week.

The GM wished the Ogun state-born soccer tactician best of luck in his future endeavour.

Kpaluku who recalled with nostalgia how coach Ogunbote lifted the team from relegation waters in 2013 however said his right hand man Daboere Dokubo Sharks will tinker the team on an interim capacity.

“No doubt we will miss the services of Coach Gbenga Ogunbote because he is committed to his job and does not like losing. And I want to wish him the very best of luck wherever he may be at the moment,” Kpaluku said.
