• Names Aminu Musa as head coach
• Backroom staff to step aside, too
News emanating from the camp of premier league side, Giwa FC disclosed that the owner of the club, Ambassador Chris Giwa has directed most of the backroom staff of the Jos Elephants to step aside and has named Aminu Musa as head coach.
He has also taken over the team’s training sessions because of recent spate of unimpressive results.
The team’s head coach, Tony Bolus has been told to step aside while team nurse, Azi Nyam, trainer- Ajibola Folorunsho and curator Daniel Chuhwak have all been absent from the training sessions they have had since their return from Akure where they were bashed 4-0 by Sunshine Stars last weekend.
SportingLife gathered that the owner of the club, Ambassador Chris Giwa was furious after news got to him that the club were beaten 4-0 by Sunshine Stars and that he decided it was time the head coach, Bolus took a rest after the same coach oversaw Giwa FC’s 3-0 loss to 3SC and their 4-1 defeat in Kano to Pillars.
SportingLife got from an inside source that Ambassador Giwa initially told Bolus to step aside immediately they returned from their trip to Ibadan where they were bashed 3-0 by 3SC in a Glo Premier League Week 17 tie but that he changed his mind and recalled the embattled coach two weeks later before the latest development.
SportingLife can confirm that Ambassador Giwa led the training session himself on Tuesday and Wednesday in Abuja where the team has relocated to and he has installed Aminu Musa as head coach ahead of their next league match with Akwa United in Uyo this weekend.
Giwa FC players were drilled for five hours in Abuja under the supervision of the club owner and Musa on Wednesday.
The source further told SportingLife that Ambassador Giwa decided to take the team’s training session upon himself and to also relocate their training session to Abuja so that he would have enough time to personally oversee the team before their next league trip to Uyo.
The source added that Ambassador Giwa opined that it was an insult for his club to be beaten by such wide margin and that he must do what is needed to ensure that the unimpressive results are halted starting with the away tie with the Promise Keepers.
SportingLife tried to reach the club’s Marketing Director, Sammy Adesoji for his comments but he was not reachable while efforts to contact the owner of the club, Ambassador Giwa yielded no positive response. The owner of the club was very evasive, telling our correspondent that he doesn’t grant press interviews.
Giwa FC are eighth on the log with 35 points from 24 matches.
