Ohanaeze youth seeks release of detained MASSOB members

The Youth wing of Ohanaeze Ndigbo has appealed to the Federal government to release MASSOB members who were in detention.

Addressing reporters in Umuahia, National President Mazi Okechukwu Isinguzoro regretted the action against MASSOB members, whose agitations, according to him, might be because of perceived injustice against Ndigbo.

According to Isinguzoro, the group may not agree with agitations for a sovereign state but would extend its sympathy to non-violent agitators.

He said: “We are calling on the Federal Government to release those agitators clamoring for the State of Biafra without any condition. We are also telling the agitators that it is better we remain in Nigeria and fight for our rights, than look for another sovereign nation.

“What we mean is that we have sympathy for those detained MASSOB members and since the Presidency is negotiating with the Boko Haram insurgents, it is only fair that it releases the detained MASSOB boys; that is where our sympathy lies.”
