The captain of the home based Eagles, Gbolahan Salami has promised Nigerians that he would ensure he gets goals for the country today when they tackle the Stallions of Burkina Faso in the first leg of the African Nations Championship(CHAN) slated for Port Harcourt.
Salami told SportingLife that nothing gives him joy better than scoring goals as a striker and that he is hoping to lead Nigeria to an emphatic victory in the CHAN qualifier billed for the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
He said the coaches have done their own part and that he and his team mates have been talking to ensure that they complement the work of the technical crew.
The Warri Wolves striker said he would like to mark his first stint as the captain of the team with an impressive win so as to ease their worries in the return leg in Burkina Faso.
“Goals make me happy and against Burkina Faso on Saturday I will like to get some goals that will aid our impressive win. We are ready for them and we have vowed to complement the effort of the coaches,” Salami, who has 14 league goals this season, told SportingLife.
