The Lagos State government yesterday said it would appeal the ruling of a Lagos High Court which declared the appointment of caretaker committees of local government councils in the state illegal and unconstitutional.
Reacting to the judgment, the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, disagreed with the judgment, saying it will file a Stay of Execution and Appeal against it immediately.
The Attorney General who expressed confidence that the state government will prevail on appeal also urged residents to remain calm.
Meanwhile the state governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, yesterday said his administration has earmarked over N1billion for renovation and supply of furniture and education materials across all secondary schools in the state.
The governor, who reiterated the determination of his administration to invest massively in educational sector, said 1, 300 teachers from thousands of persons who applied last month will soon be employed to teach in the primary schools in the state.
