A 57-year old man, Olusanmi Kolawole, has been arraigned before an Egor Magistrate Court for duping five job seekers of N1, 160,000.
The suspect was alleged to have promised to secure appointments for his victims at the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA).
He was said to have collected the money at No. 7 Seconda Edokpolor Street, off Medical Store Road in Egor local government area of Edo State.
Olusanmi was arraigned on a five- count charge of obtaining under false pretense.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Names of his victims were given as – Bello Samson, who paid N240,000, Samuel Ekpudu, Innocent Oboh, Gbenga Olukoya and Yemi Olukoya.
The offenses contravene Section 508 of the Criminal Code and punishable under section 419 of the Criminal Cap 48 Vol. II laws of defunct Bendel State of Nigeria as applicable in Edo State.
Presiding Magistrate, Igho Braimoh, granted the accused bail in the sum of N250,000 and a surety in like sum who must be gainfully employed.
The case was adjourned to December 10 for hearing.
