APC chief hails Kogi voters for rejecting PDP

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Dr. Wole Oluyede, has hailed the electorate in Kogi State for rejecting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Oluyede, a doctor based in Australia, in an online statement made available to our reporter in Ado Ekiti yesterday, said the success of the APC in the election was a “revolution” against the PDP government, led by Governor Idris Wada, which, according to him, failed the people.

He said the Kogi people, wishing to enjoy the change offered by the APC, used their voter cards to send the PDP packing.

Oluyede urged the governor-elect, Yahaya Bello, to be magnanimous in victory and ensure unity and reconciliation in the party.

He said: “I congratulate Kogi State Governor-elect Yahaya Bello, supporters of our great party, APC and the people for the peaceful conduct of the election and for this God-given victory.”

Oluyede enjoined Governor Wada to forget challenging the APC victory at the election petition tribunal, noting that such would amount to a waste of time. He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for creating an enabling environment for democracy to thrive and appreciated him for his support and commitment to the emancipation of Kogi people from the shackles of PDP.

Oluyede, who sympathised with the family of the late Prince Abubakar Audu, urged the people not to see his death as the end of development, but the beginning of progress.

He said the late Audu stood for good governance, stressing that the people should be consoled that he contributed to the development of the state and lived a life worthy of emulation.
