BUK Class 2000 honours alumni, ex-lecturer

The Bayero University, Kano (BUK) Class 2000 has honoured some of their own as well as a former lecturer of the institution. They were honoured during the class 15th graduation anniversary.

The two alumni that received outstanding achievement awards were the past President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) now the Deputy Majority Leader, Bauchi State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdullahi Sa’ad Abdulkadir, and Former Auditor, Nigeria Economics Students Association (NESA), BUK Chapter and now the Group Business Editor, Daily Trust Newspapers, Hamisu Muhammad.

Prof Kabiru Dandago, Kano State Commissioner for Finance, who taught in the Accounting Department of the university, was also honoured for his immense contributions toward the formation of the Class 2,000 alumni chapter.

Abdulkadir, who is also the chairman of the Class, praised the group for keeping the relationship strong 15 years after.

He said the chapter has successfully registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and intends to commence some projects as a way of giving back to the institution.

Abdulkadir also announced the resolution of the members to be contributing at least N500 a month in order to assist the family of the deceased alumni and other philanthropic activities of the association.

Dandago thanked the class, urging them to sustain the gesture in order to uplift the image of the institution.

He said, world over, alumni are playing key roles in sustaining the development of their institutions and BUK should not be an exception.
