Afe Babalola advises parents on students’ upbringing

Founder of Afe Babalola University (ABUAD), Ado Ekiti, Aare Afe Babalola, has advised parents to join hands with the institution to mould the character of students.

Speaking at the 7th matriculation ceremony of the university held yesterday, Babalola said the present generation of students found it difficult to abide by rules and regulations, hence the need to pay more attention to them.

Babalola said the experience he had garnered as the chancellor of the institution in the last six years could not be compared with his 53 years experience as a legal practitioner.

He said he established the university to fulfill his desire of giving quality education to the future generation based on his experience as the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Lagos between 2001 and 2007.

Babalola advised the matriculating students to dream big, aim to be the best and be determined to succeed during their years in the university.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Michael Ajisafe said a multibillion naira 300-bed teaching hospital will be completed later in the year despite a ten-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Federal Teaching Hospital.

He said students with good Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) have the opportunity of winning between N100,000 and N500,000 from the founder yearly.

Ajisafe warned the new students to exercise the independence they now enjoy with great caution and wisdom to avoid ugly situations that may ruin their ambition.

1,513 students took the matriculation oath at the ceremony witnessed by parents and guests.
