Four oil workers abducted in Edo

Four workers of an oil firm have been abducted by suspected kidnappers on the Benin-Akure expressway in Edo State.

The abductors were said to have taken their victims into the forest.

It was learn that the oil workers were going for a training programme in a nearby state.

The driver of their vehicle was reportedly shot while another female managed to escape.

Last week, the police arrested some men with four AK-47 rifles in the area.

It was learnt that a combined team of security agecies, including the Directorate of State Security (DSS) and the police, have been combing the bush for the abductors.

Police spokesman, Osifo Abiodun, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said the command was on top of the situation.

He said policemen had been deployed in the area to rescue the victims.
