Mass PDP influx into APC imminent, says Abe

THE All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Rivers Southeast Senatorial District rerun, Magnus Abe, has said there will soon be an influx of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members into the All Progressives Congress (APC) before the state and National Assembly rerun.

The Federal lawmaker spoke at the reception of over 700 PDP defectors to APC in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

He noted that the Ogoni realised that the PDP had nothing to offer them.

Abe urged those still clinging to the PDP though wishing to leave the party to immediately join the progressives.

The politician said the APC was willing to accept them and work with them in the campaign for the rerun.

According to him, those who worked for the party during the elections will be considered after its victory.

Abe said: “We expect that we will work together to move the Ogoni to greater heights where everybody will have a chance of prosperity.”

Mr. Marvin Yobana, one of the defectors and Africa’s representative in the World Assembly of Youths and former aide to ex-First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, said he was an ardent supporter of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Yobana said he was deceived to believe that President Muhammadu Buhari did not like Niger Delta residents.

The spokesman noted that but just after 60 days in office, the President approved the implementation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) report.

The President’s action, he said, indicated that the Ogoni would benefit more under the Buhari administration than being in the opposition PDP.

He urged the Ogoni to vote massively for Abe and other APC candidates in the rerun polls.
