The Igede people of Oju/Obi Federal Constituency have assured the APC Senatorial candidate for Benue South Senatorial District rerun election, Mr Daniel Onjeh of absolute support.
They gave the assurance on Thursday while delivering their various messages of solidarity during Onjeh’s ward to ward campaign visit to the areas.
The wards he visited were Adinu, Ainu, Adum and Okwutengbe-Ito where scores of electorate thronged out to receive the campaign train.
Speaking on behalf of the people of Adinu, Prof. Ode Ojowu, Prof. Moses Ogbaji and Mrs Patricia Kuchi in their separate messages said the Igedes were set to queue behind Onjeh during the election.
They insisted that Onjeh was their only hope of liberation from the long reign of nothingness by PDP.
They stated that they were satisfied with the struggle of Onjeh for what they described as the liberation of the people of Benue South.
According to them, “We cannot question the pedigree of someone who has fought and defeated David Mark, the lion of the PDP,” whose party they said held the people of the area captive in the past 16 years and assured Onjeh of the people’s support in the February 20 poll.
At Obusa, also in Oju Local Government Area, Austin Okwoche, a youth leader, Mr Isaac Ogboja and Chief John Enyi described Onjeh as courageous and expressed hope that the APC candidate’s victory at the poll would cushion the effects of the people’s suffering occasioned by the rule of the PDP.
According to Ogboja, PDP has failed the people in their aspirations and they are now determined to look elsewhere for alternative to meet their yearnings and aspirations.
Speaking at Obi Local Government Area, Mr Nick Eworo, member representing Obi State Constituency said his constituents had worked tirelessly for the enthronement of the APC government and could no more be lured into opposition politics.
Eworo considered the rerun election as a walkover, saying that the APC has started meeting the needs of the people so there is no looking back.
Conversely, Mr Jacob Ajene, Rev. Pinot Ogbaji and Mr Peter Onche pointed out that they could not afford to be in opposition because of their numerical disadvantage.
Addressing the electorate, Onjeh reminded the them of their resolve not to have any business with opposition politics.
He stated that when elected he would keep to his campaign promises of standing for the voiceless while ensuring that what is meant for the people would get to them.
Onjeh warned the people to avoid the temptation of selling their PVCs as that would rob them of exercising their franchise.
