A man identified as Olawale Araba who was allegedly assaulted by security guards in his Estate at Ikorodu relived his ordeal on Thursday.
Araba had taken to social media to appeal that justice be served on the security guards at Ayonusi Estate who cut him with a machete at about 11:30pm on Tuesday.
According to him, trouble started after he got to the estate gate and was prevented from entering by the four guards on duty, who claimed they were told not to let him in.
An argument ensued between them and as he tried to force himself in, he was matcheted at the back of his neck.
The victim, who claimed he was utterly shocked when the security men alleged that they attacked him for trying to scale the fence, insisted that nothing like that happened.
“I was surprised when they said I tried to jump the fence and that my sister also told them to treat me that way. Is this the story they would have told if they had killed me? They even claimed it was around 2:00am that they saw me at the gate, but I came back around 11:30pm.
“I want this matter to be investigated. I am appealing that the police, vigilante group in Ikorodu and other authorities should look into this matter because I do not understand why a harmless citizen will be treated this way,” he said.
Expectedly, Araba’s appeal caught the attention of Ikorodu residents, who condemned the actions of the guards on their Facebook platform, Ikorodu Ambassadors.
The condemnation and threats to sue the guards prompted the Community Development Association of Ayonnusi Estate to invite the parties to ascertain what truly happened.
Eventually, the security guards were said to have apologised to Araba and promised to pay all the expenses he incurred at the hospital.
