Anambra State House of Assembly members yesterday paid their last respect to a former colleague, Emmanuel Onyeka, who represented Anambra West between 1999 and 2003, during former Governor Chinwoke Mbadinuju’s regime.
Onyeka died in an accident. He was 49.
Speaker Rita Obianamma Maduagwu described him as lively, humourous, easy going and a legislator per excellence.
Former Speaker Barth Onugbolu, a colleague of the deceased, described him as a peace maker who was formidable during his time. He said the late Onyeka never wavered on his collective responsibility, adding that he was one of those who constantly brokered peace between the executive and legislature.
Former Deputy Speaker Kelue Molokwu, who was a close ally of the deceased, prayed God to grant his soul eternal rest.
Speaking on behalf of the family, younger brother of the deceased Dr. Douglas Onyeka thanked the House for the solidarity and honour given to their brother.
