Embryologists urged to promote ethical practices

The Clinical Embryologists Association of Nigeria (CEAN) has appealed to members to constantly uphold ethical and standard practices.

Its President, Femi Akinrinola, stated this at the weekend in Lagos.

Addressing the members, he said: “I am extremely delighted and proud to introduce CEAN to Nigeria considering the remarkable advances and progress that has been made in the field of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), in Nigeria and indeed all over the world.

”The effect of the expansion has led to the increase in the number and demands of clinical embryologists all over Nigeria.

“Therefore, there is a need to put formal structure to this emerging and focal profession in the field of ART to align with global international standards.”

Akinrinola added: “Our mission is to promote ethical excellence, professionalism, and academic standards of clinical embryologists in Nigeria.

“Membership is however open to interested gynecologists, medical doctors, nurses and biomedical scientists in the reproductive health field with our main objective to provide support to the professional and academic interests of embryologists.”
