• Says, it’s the best birthday gift ever
Mfon Udoh has expressed huge delight after helping Enyimba cruise past Vital’O of Burundi 5-1 in the CAF Champions League game played in Port Harcourt at the weekend.
The forward, who turned 24 yesterday, scored in either side of the half to complete his brace and hand the Paul Aigbogun led side a massive first leg advantage.
“Honestly am overwhelmed by the outcome of the match,” he told SportingLife in an exclusive chat. “It is the best birthday gift ever.
“I knew we were going to win the game but I wasn’t expecting the goal margin to be that huge.
“My colleagues actually did a great job and I must recommend their efforts because they really made it easy for me.”
However, the former Akwa United star was quick to warn that the Aba Elephants cannot leave anything to chance ahead of the return leg in Burundi as in football anything can happen.
“Another 90 minutes await us in Burundi so we have to prepare and work hard to ensure we get a positive result in the return leg.
“In football, you can’t leave anything to chance that’s why we must begin preparations for the return leg now,” Mfon added.
Mfon has now scored four goals in two appearances for Enyimba in the CAF Champions League.
