There is need for aspiring political leaders to focus on the health care of people in their communities, an All Progressives’ Congress (APC) chieftain in Ilasamaja, Isolo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Diyaolu Olaolu, has said.
Oloaolu said community health and safety must always be an important part of the plans by anybody aspiring to occupy any public office because the effects of diseases on communities and individuals cannot be over emphasised. He said that is what prompted his collaborating with Rotary Club, District 401, Nigeria to hold a health enlightenment program for residents of IIasamaja ward under Ademologu zone.
Olaolu said:”We are conducting routine screenings such as for Blood Pressure (BP) checks, free malaria testing. Anybody that is positive or has high BP is given drugs. We also distribute Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets (LLITN). The program is actually sponsored by Rotary Club and I am just the facilitator that brought it to this community so that my people can benefit from Rotary’s activities. It is just part of my own community service for my people.
”The target audience is nursing mothers and concession is given to elders. We are targeting 200 people. This is just the flag off of the program. The next Rotary year I will try and secure more slots for my people. It is also part of Rotary club health project, which is Malaria.”
